The organizers of last year’s online musical fundraiser for the SARA Animal Shelter in Lanzarote will hold the event again this year. Songs For SARA 2022 will be a live benefit concert on Sunday May 15th from 12 noon to 6 pm at Marcos Bar in Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic the original 2021 event was held exclusively on-line, with livestreamed performances from local and international musical artists. This year, all live performances will be held at the event site, although the event itself will be live streamed on the Songs For SARA 2022 Facebook group page too.
Last year’s first edition of the fundraiser was a big success, raising over €7,000, and the organizers are hoping to match or exceed that amount this year. Donations will be accepted at the event itself and online on the fundraising site.
This year’s edition includes the participation of many artists, some of which Susana has had the privilege of interviewing in the past for our readers, such as:
– Adrian Bambrough
– Camy Myles
– Dan Trayers
– Lou Hindes
– Mick Bennett
– Mick Garry and
– Sly G.
These other participating musicians she hasn’t got around to interviewing them yet: Nolita James, the Jam Brothers – composed by the above mentioned Adrian Bambrough and James Lynch, Joey Bracken and Dave Timmons – the organisers of the successful Lanzarote Musicians Unite fundraiser for EMERLAN during Lockdown, Paul Behan – who will be in the island all the way from California), Dave Bandana, Tara, Chris Green, Max Santalucia, Sergio de Jesús, Yosan Pereda and with the late entry of Ellen & Steve (and that’s why their names unfortunately don’t appear on the poster, sorry guys!).
Also, this year’s event will count with international video participations from Kenny May (UK), Tommy Gunn (New York), Don Frank (Barcelona), Groove Machine (Ireland), Famara Project (UK).
