What they say about us

By the way, we have been coming to Lanzarote for well over 20 years, (I first came in 1987). I have read your books (love them) and keep going back to them every time I am there.

Brenda Harris

Can I take this opportunity to say I enjoyed you books and could not live without your weekly news letter. It keeps me going waiting for my next visit to Lanzarote. Thank you for all your hard working.

John McMahon

Playa La Garita

Lanzarote Restaurant Review – Casa de la Playa, Arrieta

We love eating tapas at the Chiringo beach bar at Arrieta but this weekend we went next door to the Casa de la Playa. Our timing was perfect, there were a few tables free outside but shortly after we were seated the restaurant filled up. The Casa de la Playa is very popular with Spanish families, it…

5 Things I’d Do In Lanzarote Next Week

I’m often asked to suggest things people should do when they are visiting the island, and depending on where I’ve been recently, my suggestions keep changing! There really is so much to do on this little island, that I feel sorry for people who only have a week or two a year to enjoy it.…

Lanzarote coat of arms

Lanzarote Coat Of Arms

I had seen Lanzarote’s coat of arms on several occasions, especially on posters for events organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote. I was intrigued by its design so I searched for more information, and this is what I found: The design consists of two large gold cauldrons in the centre with a border of another…

Having walked Termesana, the shorter of the two free guided walks available from the Timanfaya National Park, I was really looking forward to discovering a part of Lanzarote I hadn’t discovered yet on the Coastal Route. Miguel accompanied me on this walk, we couldn’t believe our luck with the weather, the day dawned clear, sunny and the…

Plane Spotting In Lanzarote

Our visitors often enjoy watching the planes come in to land and take off at Arrecife airport in Lanzarote, I walked along the promenade between Matagorda and Playa Honda this week for a touch of plane spotting. There aren’t many places in the world where you can get as close to a busy, live runway.…

Timanfaya Walk

Lanzarote Walk – Tremesana Route

We have already mentioned the two free guided walks that you can take in Lanzarote through the protected Timanfaya National Park, last week I went on the smaller 3km tour known as the Tremesana Route – a Timanfaya walk in the protected volcanic region. These walks have to be booked in advance through the website Red de Parques Nacionales and…

Mirador del Rio

Viewpoints In Lanzarote

There are some beautiful viewpoints, or Miradors,  across Lanzarote, here’s some of our favourites to look out for when you’re discovering the island. Femés It’s worth pausing to take in the balcony at Femés especially now that the area has been pedestrianised, there are two bar restaurants situated here to enjoy a drink or meal from this…

Lanzarote Fish

Lanzarote Fresh Fish Fish Of The Day

We love nothing better than a fresh fish lunch eaten at a restaurant situated over looking the sea somewhere along the coast in Lanzarote. Most of the time we leave which fish of the day up to the waiter and we’ve yet to be disappointed. The Spanish name of the fish often bears no resemblance…
