Lanzarote Restaurant Review – Kamezi Ocean View Tapas

We’ve previously enjoyed the evening tasting menu at Kamezi, and we were delighted and amazed. But we’d also heard about their tapas ocean view lunches and decided to try them out with friends.

On arrival, we were lead through the restaurant and on to the sun terrace, which overlooks shallow pools of water and down onto the promenade and the ocean. The setting is just fabulous! You step down into a “pod,” which could seat six, but was very comfortable for four of us. The pod not only shades you from the sun, but it also provides total privacy from the other diners. There are a total of five pods. As well as confortable seating, they have a small table onto which the food is served. There’s also a button you can use to summon service.

They serve a set tapas menu consisting of seven dishes, and the price is €40 per person. They also brought some of their amazing home made bread, and a palate cleanser in between two of the courses.

Once we’d settled into our pod, our waiter took and delivered our drinks order, and the food started to arrive.

There’s always a worry with set tapas menus, that the food arrives too quickly, but that wasn’t the case here – the pacing was absolutely perfect – at no time did we feel either hurried or forgotten.

Each tapa is explained in detail as it arrives, and in common with the main restaurant, only local produce is used. The presentation and the flavours were exceptional – this really is a top class restaurant with a chef who knows exactly how to bring the best out of the ingredients. In order the dishes were:

  • Prawn with garlic pil pil
  • A sweet potato salad
  • Ceviche of Sama
  • A strawberry tomato salad
  • Smoked Wahu tuna
  • Iberian pork brioche
  • A honey cheese dessert

They were all fabulous, but the winner, for me, was the smoked fish course.

The real winner, however, is the location. You really can’t beat sitting in a private pod, listening to the lapping waves, being served top quality, locally sourced food, but a superb team of staff.

Kamezi is part of Kamezi Boutique villas in Playa Blanca. You can book a pod online: Kamezi Tapas Tasting Menu.
