Lanzarote International Marathon

The Lanzarote International Marathon

The Lanzarote International Marathon is a sports events that takes place very year on the island. It’s organised by Sands Beach Active in Costa Teguise, and is supported by many organisations and sponsors. The event has been running for a few years now, and we’ll keep this page up to date with the latest information for this year’s marathon.

Race day makes for a fantastic party atmosphere in Costa Teguise and along the route.

The Marathon this year will take place on 7th December 2019.

Distances

There are three distances –  a full marathon, a half marathon and a 10KM race. Each start time is planned so that all three groups finish roughly together.

Marathon

The marathon starts at 0800 right outside Sands Beach resort in Costa Teguise, and the finish line is here as well. It follows to coast line all the way through to Arrecife and Playa Honda and the turn point is at Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen. The distance is 42.2KM

Half Marathon

The half starts at the turn point in Puerto del Carmen and follows the same route back through Playa Honda and Arrecife to Costa Teguise. Start time is 1030 and the distance is 21.1KM

10KM Race

The 10KM race starts at Marina Lanzarote in Arrecife and, again, joins the route of the full distance event, travelling through Puerto Naos and into Costa Teguise, finishing at Sands Beach Resort. Start time is noon.

Both abled bodied and wheelchair athletes take part in the event and everyone finished is given a medal.

There are aid stations all along the route with water, energy drinks, cola, fruit and toilets. Coaches are laid on to take the 21.1 and 10KM athletes to their start lines, and they leave from Sands Beach Resort.
