Spain Opens Border To UK

Spain has re-opened the borders to UK citizens, meaning they can travel here without needing a specific reason to do so.

In this BOE published 21st May 2021, the change takes place at 0000 on 24th May.

Note The Canaries still remain on the UK’s Amber list for travel, which places specific requirements on UK citizens returning home from a visit to Spain or The Canaries.

There is no requirement for a Covid test to travel to Lanzarote, but you will need to provide a PCR or antigen test to check into registered tourist accommodation.

This means Spain’s borders are now open to all EU countries, as well as the following third countries:

  • Australia
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Ruanda
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Thailand
  • United Kingdom and Northern Ireland
  • China
