Walk Arrecife

Playa Honda

Playa Honda has a lot to offer, it is much more than just the Lanzarote Airport and commercial warehouses. It’s the second largest town in terms of population on the island. People tend to move to Playa Honda from Arrecife, as their families grow and they need more room. Property is sought after in the area and commands high prices, particularly in the zone of La Concha, where there is a fabulous beach and some spectacular houses.

There is a beautiful promenade along the front of Playa Honda, connecting Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen. which is very popular for walking and cycling. This is a great spot to sit and enjoy some food or a drink and watch the world go by, and there are some good restaurants and tapas bars along the front.

Playa Honda is a perfect location being in the centre of the island, it has lots of shops, employment, a great beach and connected to local regular transport. The area is also the industrial heart of the island – with many warehouses and small factories. The central location, close to both the air and seaport, has helped develop Playa Honda in this way.

Apart from the indoor Deiland Shopping Centre at Playa Honda there is a large Hiper Dino supermarket (formerly Vivo) and Garden Centre found opposite the end of the runway.

Playa Honda has two beaches, the first is Playa Honda beach and it is huge, it runs along the popular promenade.
Dimensions: 1900m long & 85m deep
Sand: medium golden
Sea: calm

The second beach is Guacimeta beach and it stretches around the airport runway, you can stand and watch the planes land over your head! Not classed as a naturist beach but is known for it.
Dimensions: 1km long & 40m deep
Sand: fine
Sea: calm

You will be spoilt for choice when you want to eat out in Playa Honda, on the first floor of the Deiland Centre you will find KFC, a kebab place and Burger King if you want a fast food option, there are a plethora of bars offering burgers, sandwiches and tapas around the streets between Deiland and the sea front and if you’re looking for a restaurant just some of my favourites in that area are:
