Lanzarote Restaurant Review – Starlight, Rooftop, Puerto del Carmen

I can’t think of many other restaurants with a view better than this one. Starlight is the restaurant on the top floor of the Biosfera shopping centre in Puerto del Carmen. It’s part of the Rooftop entertainment complex, and is also home to the open air cinema, a 6D cinema, Jurassic Kingdom adventure golf and The Lost World Café.

But back to the view – we chose to sit on the roof terrace in the sunshine, and we had a view of both the old and the new towns of Puerto del Carmen, the ocean and we could se Fuerteventura in the distance.

Our server gave us our menus and told us to click the button on the table to call her when we were ready to order. It’s a great system and it means the staff don’t need to hover, and you can get drink top ups quickly and easily.

The menu offers some interesting breakfast items including an All American Breakfast, which sounded wonderful, as well as snacks including Panini’s, wraps and Hot dogs. But as we were there for lunch, we looked at some of the more substantial dishes which include a rack of ribs, a tapas sharing platter, half a chicken, salads, gourmet burgers and pizzas.

Julie chose a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and I went with a pepperoni pizza with regular fries. The burger was excellent – thick, meaty and tasty, with a proper burger bun and plenty of salad. The sweet potato fries were a revelation – perfectly crisp, with a hint of sweetness. The pizza looked a little anaemic, as you’ll see from the photos, but it was wonderfully tasty, properly home made, and the regular fires were hot and well seasoned.

For drinks, Julie had a cider, and as the driver, I went for a smoothie. Starlight has a good range of smoothies, and I chose a Tropi- Colada –  a lovely, frothy mix of pineapple and coconut.

The service was fast and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We’d highly recommend Starlight. The food is good, the service excellent, and the views exceptional. If you’re shopping next time you’re in Lanzarote, or just passing close by, call in and give them a try.

Our bill came to just over €30.
