Lanzarote Restaurant Review – MargheRita, Puerto Calero

MargheRita Puerto Calero

We stopped in Puerto Calero for lunch this week as we needed something quick to fill a gap between meetings and we fancied pizza, and spotted MargheRita.

Miguel went for his usual, a pepperoni pizza but I spotted something on the menu described as a chicken salad pizza, which intrigued me.

The chicken salad pizza is fabulous! Imagine a light and crispy focaccia bread thinly sliced, with a chicken Caesar salad filling, served on a bed of mixed leaves. It’s a brilliant combination, the chicken is mixed with mayonnaise and has shavings of Parmesan. Priced at €8 it’s great value and big enough to share between two if you want a lighter lunch option.

Miguel’s pepperoni pizza was really authentic, with a thin base cooked in a wood fired oven and the option of liberally dashing chilli oil on at the table. Having spotted mine though, he negotiated a deal to share them 50/50 and commented that next time he was having the chicken salad pizza!

MargheRita is on the ground floor of the main building on the waterfront of the marina, it’s a great place for watching the world go by. The full restaurant name is MargheRita Osteria Pizzeria and is an authentic pizzeria from a company based in Rome.

There was only one waitress front of house during our lunch service but she was brilliant, fluent in several languages and serving all the tables in a confident and friendly manner.

A great experience, and totally unexpected, so give them a try if you’re looking for a great pizza place in Puerto Calero.
