We revisited La Casa de Parmigiano recently, and commented on the fact that it has been too many years since we visited this well established restaurant in Puerto del Carmen.
The restaurant itself isn’t large, but it features a fabulous covered terrace at the rear, which looks out onto The Fariones sports centre and the swimming pool there. We hadn’t booked, but they were able to find a table for us and there were plenty of friendly staff on hand to give advice and take our order. La Casa de Pamigiano seems to have one of the highest staff to customer ratios we’ve come across on the island.
The entrance has moved since we were last there – it used to be at the front, but now you enter through the door adjacent to the Fariones Sports Centre. We had a table on the terrace, which is quite well sheltered from the wind.
This visit was for a dinner, and we chose to share a platter of Finca de Uga cheeses as a starter. The cheese from the finca deservedly wins awards – it’s fabulous! The platter came with walnuts, grapes and a strawberry in ricotta, and we had four different cheeses to enjoy. Bread arrived, together with a superb olive oil, which was spicy and green.
For our mains courses we both went with fillet steak, but served very differently. Julie had the house salad with fillet steak, and it was generous salad of leaves and fruit, interspersed with rare steak, and served with an amazing honey and mustard dressing, which really popped.
I had home made egg pappardelle, with slices of hot steak, tomatoes and mushrooms. The pasta, as you’d expect, was perfectly cooked, and the dish was filling and tasty. My only complaint was that it could have taken more seasoning, and I added plenty of freshly ground black pepper.

In summary, the food was very good, and we agreed Julie’s salad was the showstopper. The service was very good, with several members of staff looking after us, and always on hand when we needed anything.
We had a couple of zero alcohol beers each and a large bottle of sparkling water. Our total bill was 68 €.
We chose to share a Pizza Diavola (hot and spicy pepperoni) and a chicken salad with avocado, nuts and a Gorgonzola dressing. While the food was being prepared, we were served some olives and bread sticks with aioli.
Note: This is an updated review, but when we last visited, we had a pizza and salad at lunchtime, and here’s what we said then about the food:
The pizza was delicious and just how I like them – a thin crust, and not overloaded with toppings, and the salad was exceptional. I thought the dressing might overwhelm it, but it was rich and subtle.
It’s not cheap for a lunch stop – we spent almost €30 with fizzy water and a coffee, but the food is good, the service excellent and the ambience wonderful. It’s the perfect place to take a breather in and recharge in the middle of a busy day.
La Casa de Parmigiano are in Calle Alegranza 1, Puerto del Carmen, and they are open every day from 1PM to 11.30PM.
