Five Restaurants Make Michelin Guide

Michelin Guide

Lanzarote’s food scene is officially on fire. Yesterday, five of the island’s gems—SeBE, Tacande, Palacio Ico, Lilium, and La Cocina de Colacho—were officially welcomed into the 2026 Michelin Guide as “Recommended” restaurants.

This is a huge win for the island, adding even more flavour to a local scene that already boasts a Michelin Star at Kamezí in Playa Blanca.

The news broke at an event hosted by CaixaBank in Las Palmas, where 27 restaurants from across the Canary Islands received their official plaques.

Why it Matters

Being in the Michelin Guide is more than just a sticker on a window. As Manuel Afonso from CaixaBank put it, gastronomy has become a “calling card” for the Islands. This recognition cements the Canaries as a world-class foodie destination, proving that our chefs can balance tradition with serious innovation.

So, if you’re looking for a table this weekend, you might want to book early—these spots are about to get very busy!

The Winners

Here is the lowdown on Lanzarote’s newest Michelin-recommended stars:

1. SeBE (Costa Teguise)

  • The Vibe: Modern, airy, and deeply connected to the island’s volcanic soul.
  • The Specialty: If you love rice, this is your mecca. They are famous for their “Arroces” (rice dishes), specifically the one featuring Carabineros from La Santa (huge, deep-red local prawns). It’s all about intense flavours and high-quality local seafood.

2. Tacande (Haría)

  • The Vibe: A stylish family-run spot in the “Valley of a Thousand Palms.” It feels very green and fresh, featuring a cool “living wall” of plants.
  • The Specialty: This is fusion at its best. Think Canary Island ingredients meeting Asian, Peruvian, and Moroccan influences. Their low-temperature cooked meats and fresh Atlantic fish in tempura are big hits.

3. Palacio Ico (Teguise)

  • The Vibe: Pure elegance. It’s located in a beautifully restored 17th-century building in the heart of the historic capital.
  • The Specialty: “Vanguard Canary cuisine.” They take local staples like Smoked Salmon from Uga or Black Canarian Pig and turn them into fine-dining art. It’s the place to go for a seasonal tasting menu and a top-tier wine list.

4. Lilium (Arrecife)

  • The Vibe: Sophisticated and urban, located right in the Marina Lanzarote with great views.
  • The Specialty: Chef Orlando Ortega is a master of “Sentido Canario” (Canarian Sense). He reinvents traditional recipes—his Banana Croquettes and the Roast Suckling Pig are legendary. It’s the perfect bridge between grandma’s kitchen and modern haute cuisine.

5. La Cocina de Colacho (Playa Blanca)

  • The Specialty: Chef Colacho works in an open, glass-walled kitchen that looks more like a high-tech laboratory. The focus here is on creative textures and surprising presentations. Don’t miss the Cherne (wreckfish) with thyme-infused potato cream or his signature desserts.
  • The Vibe: Super intimate and artistic. It’s more than a meal; it’s a choreographed performance where you can watch every plate being built.
