Christmas Dinner & New Years Eve Meal In Lanzarote

Christmas is a magical time in Lanzarote, and you can read all about what it’s like here: What is Christmas like in Lanzarote? But you might be wondering where to go to enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner, or a New Year’s eve meal.

Christmas Dinner

The first thing to decide is what you want to eat – many restaurants on the island serve their standard menus on Christmas day, so you could have a steak, tapas or fresh fish. This is because the Canarian tradition is to have the main meal with the family on Christmas eve, before going to midnight mass.

But if you’re from northern Europe, you may be looking for turkey and all the trimmings at lunchtime on the 25th, and many of the British and Irish owned bars in the resorts will serve that type of meal.

Booking is recommended, and we add all the menus we receive to a Facebook album, so you can scroll through them all: Christmas dinner in Lanzarote.

New Year’s Eve Dinner

Almost every restaurant on the island does a special meal on New Year’s Eve, usually starting late, and timed to finish at midnight, when everyone eats 12 grapes in time with the chimes.

They will all do something different, ranging from fairly standard fare to full-on gourmet meals with paired wines. Many of the hotels will also offer special New Year’s Eve gala dinners, with entertainment and they are open to people not staying with them. Again, booking is recommended.

There’s always a cracking firework display in Arrecife and La Villa de Teguise, and the resort areas of Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca also do displays off the main beaches. The display in Carmen is usually at 1AM to allow people to enjoy the midnight celebrations in whichever bar or restaurant they are in.

We’ve put the New Year’s Eve options we’ve been told about in the same album on Facebook: New Year’s Eve Dinner Lanzarote.
