Lanzarote has done well in a comparison complied by the website vaciones-españa.es.
They looked at the top 15 tourist destinations and produced figures to show the cost of various items. All the data is in Spanish, so below the image, you’ll find a translation and the methodology where applicable.
Autobus refers to a single journey bus ticket – Lanzarote is the cheapest of all.
Taxi refers to a single journey of an average distance for 4 people – Lanzarote is the second cheapest behind Ibiza.
Coche de alquiler is the average price for car hire for a week – Lanzarote comes third, but we think the figures are wrong – we can certainly arrange car hire cheaper than that for you!
Actividades is the average cost of the price of entry to theme parks and adventure areas – again Lanzarote is third.
Comer Fuera is an average of the cost of eating out a meal for two with wine – Lanzarote scores poorly in 12th place.
Compras is the aggregated cost of various items – a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs and a litre of milk. Lanzarote is the cheapest of all!
Overall
It’s a win for Lanzarote! Our island is the least expensive overall in this survey, followed by Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The Costa Dorada area comes out as the most expensive.
