Live From Lanzarote – Facebook Charity Concert

It is undeniable that the Lockdown has put a lot of people living in Lanzarote under enormous financial struggle. The fact that the help the central Government has promised is very slowly trickling in and, in a lot of cases failed to materialise yet, has left a heart-breaking number of families without any income whatsoever since the 15th of March, 2020.

Many of them are relying solely on the good will and charity of neighbours -and even strangers, Social Services and non-governmental organisations to cover such basic needs as food.

Local musicians David Timmons and Joey Bracken have put together an intiative to help raise funds for their chosen charity – EMERLAN, Lanzarote’s Emergency charity. A virtual live concert with a wide range musicians from the island. It will take place next Sunday, 10th of May starting at noon and it’s expected to go on for 12 hours.

Each musician will perform a few songs each before passing the torch, so to speak, to the next act. The currently confirmed line up is:

The concert will be streamed on the group “Lanzarote musicians unite. Live Facebook Concert

Donations can be made via GoFundMe on https://www.gofundme.com/f/Lanzaroteuntied between 8pm on Monday, 4th May and noon the day after the concert.

Any one who donates will automatically enter a raffle with very interesting prizes including vouchers for restaurants, well-being treatments, excursions and holiday accomodation to name a few. Check the concert group for any more additions to these impressive list of prizes. These have been generously donated by local business – considering most of them are struggling themselves! There is also a star prize of a week for two people in Aqua Suites on a half board basis. The draw will take place there, incidentally, on Monday, 11th May at 2pm and it can be watched on the Facebook group too.

We encourage you to tune in on Sunday to enjoy the music from your favourite local musicians and please give as much or as little as you can, knowing that you are contributing to a great cause.
