Lanzarote Hotel Review – La Cala Suites

We booked a couple of nights at La Cala Suites to understand it better for clients of our travel agency, and also because we’d heard very good things from those who had already been.

La Cala Suites is a small 5 star boutique hotel, with only 41 rooms, right on the ocean front in Playa Blanca and very close to the marina.

The property is adults only, and has a very chilled vibe – it’s generally peaceful and quiet, so don’t expect noisy entertainment or loud music.

Every room has a sea view, and there are both 55 M2 suites and 40 M2 rooms. We stayed in one of the latter, and it was more than spacious enough. The hotel makes amazing use of glass on the balconies, so you genuinely get a sea view at all times, even from bed! As you’d expect from a five star hotel, the rooms have everything you need from lotions and potions in the bathroom, to a Nespresso machine and a really fabulous rain shower. The fixtures and fittings are really high quality and the flat screen TV is huge. Disappointingly, though, there were only a couple of English language channels available – both news.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the pool bar on arrival day, and we had breakfast in the main restaurant, which has one wall of glass, giving incredible views to Papagayo. The breakfast was only average – the cooked options didn’t wow either of us, and we tried a few over the two days, but the breads, pastries and waffles were delicious.

The service in reception, at the pool bar and in the restaurant was excellent, and everyone was very friendly and experienced. The pool bar closes at around 6.30 each evening, which means there isn’t anywhere to relax and enjoy a pre or post dinner drink. For that reason, we, and many other guests, tended to walk along the promenade to enjoy the many bars at Marina Rubicon.

The pool area is gorgeous, with cabañas, sun beds, a decent sized, properly heated pool, and once again, the use of glass means you look straight out to sea.

In summary, La Cala Suites is a good hotel, in a simply stunning position, with good service. As we said above, if you’re looking for a totally relaxing holiday, and don’t feel the need to be entertained or to enjoy drinks in the bar in the evening, you’ll love it.

La Cala Suites is in Calle la Cómoda, Playa Blanca. We can book package holidays there for you through our travel agency and you can read much more detail about the hotel here:  Camel Travel.

Note: We don’t write paid reviews for hotels, and we don’t accept free stays or any benefits for our reviews. We simply book, pay the price and write our honest views afterwards.
