The organizers of Songs For SARA, the musical fundraiser for the SARA Animal Shelter in Lanzarote, will hold the event again this year. Unlike the first edition in 2021 when due to the pandemic, it was held online, this year will be held as a live event again in Marcos Bar in Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen on Sunday, May 28th starting at noon and until 6pm. The event will be also livestreamed on the Facebook group (link below) so those who can’t physically attend the event can still enjoy it online too.
Previous editions have been a great success, raising a total of over €10,000. The organizers are hoping to match or exceed that amount this year. Donations will be accepted at the event itself and you can donate online already on the fundraising site: https://gofundme.com/f/songs-for-sara-2023.
This year’s edition includes the participation of many Lanzarote-based artists, some of them that already took part in the event in the past, some new: Ellen & Steve, Cool for Cats, The Sane Patrick Band, Dan Trayers, Lou Hindes, Mick Bennett & Conor Sloane, Joey Bracken, Sergio de Jesús Padrón, Dave Timmons, Mick Garry, Dave Bandana, Max Santalucia, Al Murphy, Francesca and the Wild Rose Duo. There will also be international video participations from Kenny May (UK), Tommy Gunn (New York), Paul Behan (California), Groove Machine (Ireland), The Famara Project featuring Maverick Humanity (UK), Jonathan Green (UK) and Lukas Horst (Germany).
As usual, every €5 donated automatically enters you in a fantastic draw of prizes kindly donated by local businesses. The current list of prizes is quite impressive and there is bound to be some more added between now and the day of the actual event.
Follow the music festival’s social media for updates and if you can, please donate. Even sharing the information with your friends that are music and animal lovers will help, thank you!
