This year we have found not one but two different Shoe Box Appeals in Lanzarote!
SHOE BOX APPEAL UPDATE:
– @Crediendo Yaiza ‘s has a new dropping point: Minimarket Ruth, across from the children’s play park on Avenida Papagayo in Playa Blanca. Or by appointment by contacting +34 693 549 742.
To help put the shoe boxes together, wrap them, etc there is one more date: the 28th of December at Calle La Laja, 3 in Playa Blanca from 17:30h.

Creciendo Yaiza
They are a charity based in Playa Blanca that deals with children and young people with functional diversity from the point of view of inclusion. It was established back in 2013 to provide support and activities to families in the area.
Creciendo Yaiza wants to make sure that no child is left without the excitement of getting some presents at Christmas time. It’s the 4th year they are organising this campaign to provide children and youngsters with their very own Shoe Box filled with goodies.
At the moment they are still collecting toys, empty shoe boxes, wrapping paper, ribbons, etc. They also need hands on volunteers to fill up the boxes and deliver them during Christmas and the Three Kings, as they get them ready.
Anyone interested in donating and / or helping out, please do get in touch. Your help will be very welcome and appreciated, as this year they are struggling more than other years to get what they need.

Lanzarote Online Charity Shop
This is an online charity initiative that I interviewed earlier this year and you can read about the wonderful work they do all year round here: https://lanzaroteinformation.co.uk/charity-corner-lanzarote-online-charity-shop.
Their Show Box Appeal has a twist, as usually this popular Christmas campaign is aimed at children. They are including women and men, which of course, find themselves in vulnerable situations too.
The principle is the same: to participate, fill a wrapped shoebox or gift bag with useful items and drop it off at their collection points on the island, listed below. You can also personalise your gift with a card or note to make the donation extra special. They are only asking to please make sure you label the boxes and bags, stating the gender and age range of the box you are donating.
Your donated shoeboxes will be given to people in need across Lanzarote and “Flora Acoge”, the local charity they support, will distribute them among anyone who has nothing this Christmas.
