The Barcelo Teguise Beach Hotel has always been in a fabulous position right on the sea front in Costa Teguise, but it underwent a rumoured €12 million refurbishment, and has gone adults only, so we visited the hotel to see how it all looks. Assistant Manager Xavi gave us a guided tour, and the place is stunning!
The hotel is now a 4 star, and everything from the gardens, to the pools, gym and spa area and every single room has been totally upgraded. It’s also now an adults-only property, so although it was almost full when we visited, the public areas are amazingly peaceful and quiet. You can book the Teguise Beach bed and breakfast, half board or all inclusive. There are 3 restaurants: Pool bar (Mediterranean cuisine and healthy food) open during the day. The Sports Bar (snack and fast food) open during the day and evenings. And there is a buffet, with 3 areas (Asian, Canarian and International.)
There are two restaurants, one offering international cuisine, including sushi with a trained chef, and another offering Canarian cuisine, and two main bars, as well as a pool bar. There are two swimming pools, one is an infinity pool with incredible views over the ocean, and an intriguing glass wall, and the other, very large main pool, with sunbeds around both.
The Barcelo Teguise Beach also has a well equipped gym, with sunshades and an open front, and a tranquil spa area for treatments and relaxation. All the public areas have completely new, very funky furniture and the gardens have been completely re designed.
Technology plays an important part in the hotel – there is wifi, of course, but in reception there is a huge touchscreen computer with local information, as well as tablets anyone can use. And all the rooms have 43 inch flat screen TVs, coffee makers and “rain dance” showers.
There are basically three room types – deluxe, deluxe with private hot tub and junior suite. All are available with or without sea view. The deluxe rooms are fabulous, but the junior suites add an additional lounge area with sofa and armchairs, a hydromassage bathtub and slippers and dressing gowns. We’d go for a deluxe room with hot tub and sea view – we can just imagine sitting in the hot tub on the balcony, with a glass of cava and looking at the ocean!
There are also 7 adapted rooms for guest with limited mobility, and they can be pre booked.
We were really impressed at the work that has been done – it’s basically a brand new 4 star hotel in the heart of Costa Teguise, with the most amazing views. We’re very happy to recommend it to readers who want an adults only holiday on the island.
Pricing is reasonable, starting at under £300 per person per week on B and B, and just over £500 per person per week on all inclusive.
