The 2024 “Concurso Oficial de Quesos Agrocanarias” took place on the 19th and the 20th of June in the neighboring island of Fuerteventura. The results were only was announced on the 9th of July, granting a total of 61 awards: 56 medals (18 great gold medals, 29 gold medals and 9 silver medals) plus 5 distinctions.
Out of the 75 participant cheesemakers that had entered the contest
24 are from Gran Canaria,
12 are from Tenerife,
12 are from La Palma,
12 are from Fuerteventura,
9 are from Lanzarote,
4 are from La Gomera and
2 are from El Hierro.
Lanzarote has been awarded 11 medals to 6 different cheesemakers, out of the 9 participant ones:
Finca de Uga: 5 medals,
Quesería Rubicón: 2 medals and
The remaining 5 cheesemakers been awarded 1 medal each: Quesería Montaña Blanca, Filo El Cuchillo, Pastor de Tahiche and Seña Feliza
By types of medals, Lanzarote has taken home:
5 Great Gold medals,
5 Gold medals and
1 Silver medal.
