Each year The Cabildo releases a document of statistics relating to the island, and we distill it into key numbers for your below. Lanzarote in Numbers 2025 is our annual summary for you.

This report relates to the year 2025 and was issued in April 2026:

Population

The island’s population increased to 166,826, up 2.2% on last year. The population is 24.5% foreign, up from 22% last year, the rest being Spanish nationals.

The top five foreign populations were:

  • Colombians – 8045 up 13% on last year and increase of 1045 people
  • British – 5944 down 9.75% in last year a drop of 580 people
  • Italians – 4346 up 0.67% an increase of 28 people

The total population by municipality in order:

  • Arrecife – 70,265
  • Teguise – 23,946
  • Tias – 21,671
  • San Bartolomé – 19,744
  • Yaiza – 18,698
  • Tinajo – 6,904
  • Haria – 5,650

Economy

The island had a record 78,550 people in work and paying social security in 2025. There were a total of 5,189 companies on the island, again a record:

  • 85% in the service sector
  • 8.8% in the construction sector
  • 3.2% in the industrial sector
  • 35 in the agricultural sector

Tourism

Just over 3.45 million tourists visited the island, an all time record. By country, the top five were:

  • United Kingdom – 50.9%
  • Ireland 11.15%
  • Spain 9.01%
  • Germany 8.85%
  • France 6.73%

The number of tourists visiting the island has increased by 30% over the last 9 years.

People stayed an average of 7.3 nights and paid an average of 126,40 € for their accommodation.

The total number of tourist beds in hotels fell to 63,135 compared to 64,791 the year before.

Society

The average price of houses sold rose to 2894 € per square meter a year on year increase of 17.49%

The total number of crimes reported rose by 3.1% to 7,511. There was one murder on the island.

Transport

Cruise ship passengers arriving into Arrecife rose to a record 663,696 up 8.7% year on year and an all time record 

Cargo tonnage into the port of Arrecife also hit a record high, up 10% in the same period. 

8.9 million passengers used Cesar Manrique airport, with 72,949 aircraft movements – both all time records.

The islands buses carried 8.3 million passengers – another record
