Club Deportivo Uninsu is a non-profit club in Lanzarote, founded on the 2nd of October 2024, run by its own players and dedicated to the practice of adapted hockey in electric wheelchairs. Their main objective is to create an inclusive space where people with functional diversity can enjoy team sports, personal improvement and socialising.
They have been invited compete in the “Liga Promesas” (Promises League) , an event organised by the “Federación Española de Deportes de Personas con Discapacidad Física” (FEDDF), the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities, that will take place on the 18th and 19th of April 2026 in Madrid.
Each tournament is a major financial challenge for the club due to the high costs involved in travelling with their team, including flights, adapted transport, accommodation and sports equipment.
As an example, on their last trip to Barcelona, the total cost of travel amounted to €7,380, broken down as follows:
Flight: €2,000
Accommodation: €3,600
Adapted transport: €1,780
In addition to these expenses, there are other costs related to the sport itself, such as licences for athletes and coaches, adapted sports equipment and uniforms.
The Club is running a crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds. They are aiming to raise €10,000 in just over a month – the length of the campaign on the donating site.
Through this fundraiser they are seeking support so that they can continue competing and raising awareness of inclusive sport.
