2023 – A Record Year For Tourism

2023 was a record year for tourism on the island, with 3,179,036 tourists coming to the island.

Country of Origin

The United Kingdom remained in the number one spot for visitors and the breakdown was as follows:

  • 48% from United Kingdom
  • 11% from Ireland
  • 10.2% from Spain
  • 9.6% from Germany

Income and Spending

The island’s total turnover related to tourism was  €3,500 Million, up 13% on the previous year, and substantially up on the last pre-covid year.

On average, visitors spend, per day of stay:

  • Accommodation – €74.20
  • Flights – €46.40
  • Food – €23.50
  • Local transport – €11.20
  • Activities – €7.10
  • Souvenirs – €4.50

CACT Tourist Centres

Of the official attractions, Montañas del Fuego remained the most popular:

  • Montañas del Fuego – 921,343 visitors
  • Jameos del Agua – 883,170 visitors
  • Cueva de los Verdes  – 585,975 visitors
  • Mirador del Rio – 517,511 visitors
  • Jardin de Cactus – 487,886 visitors
  • Castillo San José – 84,234 visitors
