So here we go:
Breakfast at McSorley’s
McSorley’s in Puerto Calero do some fabulous American style breakfasts. Enjoy Eggs Benedict or a tower of pancakes to set you up for the day. It always feels decadent to start a Sunday with a big brekkie, overlooking the yachts and enjoying a selection of newspapers.
Teguise Market
The huge market at Teguise is a must-do on the island. You’ll find everything there from local crafts, to cheap tat, with somewhat dubious “designer labels” on sale, and there’s always good entertainment from dancers and musicians around the streets.
Coffee in La Santa Village
Drive back to Monumento Campesino and turn right towards Tinajo and go through to La Santa. Park up as you come into the village and dive in to The Bike Stop for a coffee. Once refuelled, walk down to the little harbour and watch the waves – if you’re lucky you’ll see the fishing boats coming in, and surfers riding the waves.

Lunch in Famara
Sunday lunch is a big deal here in Spain – its usually a family affair and the meal can take two hours, with an hour of sobremesa afterwards. Choose a restaurant you like the look of from the many in Famara and enjoy a great meal and seeing local families out enjoying themselves.
We generally choose one facing the ocean.
Afternoon on Famara Beach
It was Manrique’s favourite part of the island – the beach is spectacular, with the cliffs towering behind it. Great for surfing, boogie boarding or kite surfing, but take care as there can be a rip current there. To get some exercise, you can walk the full length of the beach and back – about 8KM in total.
Stay there to watch the sunset – always beautiful from that part of the island, as the sun dips into the ocean.
That’s probably enough for one day, so head back to your accommodation for a shower and a well earned chill drink!
