We needed to stop for lunch last week in Playa Blanca and we discovered Treat Café Bar, which opened in May. You won’t find televisions showing sport or all day breakfasts at Treat, but you will find great coffee (think Costa Coffee,) cocktails, healthy food, live entertainment in the afternoon and evening and a really nice chilled and relaxed vibe.

The decor is well thought out with comfortable seating, a handy row of different charging leads for phones and tablets, and the service is calm and timely. We loved the use of the colours of The Canarian flag throughout – even their logo uses them. The outside terrace is large, and has ocean views to Fuerteventura, so you can watch the ferries coming in and out.

We opted for a “Snackwich” for our lunch – choose a type of bread or croissant, and then add four fillings from a large choice. Jalapeños with your cheese? No problem! They also serve platters of food, for one or for two to share, using fresh, local ingredients, as well as a range of pizzas, with authentically thin crusts.

They have a full range of beers, including locally produced craft beers, spirits and delicious smoothies and fresh fruit juices.

For dessert there are gems like a cheesecake served deconstructed as a Sundae, or you can try a thick shake made with anything from Oreo biscuits to Maltesers.

Every afternoon, the live entertainment starts at around 3PM and 9PM – you’ll find various perfomers, including owner Julian and entertainer Sarah Müller. DJ James Jordan spins some tunes, joined by Julian on Thursdays and Saturdays for a show called “Swing Collision.” It’s the perfect place to call into on your way back from the beach, for a few drinks and some good entertainment.

Treat is open from 11AM to 11PM every day except Sunday, when they close at 8PM. You’ll find them at CC Punta Limones in Playa Blanca – upstairs from the Irish Anvil, and you can see all their current information and menus at their Facebook page – Treat Café Bar.

We loved it there – refreshingly different!
