If you have done all the “touristic” things in Lanzarote, you are looking for something different to do or you have a particular interest in Canarian gastronomy, traditions and crafts, then this article is for you.
We bring you a selection of 3 “hands on” experiences you can get involved in during the month of February, 2020: the first one has already been ongoing on daily basis since last year; the other two are happening at the beginning of the month, one is a one-off -as far as we can tell- and the last one might become a regular event if there is enough interest.
Monumento Campesino Market
The first one, we already talked to you about it in the past: it’s the activities at the daily Market at Monumento al Campesino
You can taste wine, cheese, organic fruits and vegetables, learn how to make Mojo sauce, make or decorate ceramics, make scented salts, make a leather key ring or make your own watercolour painting using cochineal dye. Each activity costs €3 and lasts between 15 minutes to half an hour. You can find more information on each activity as well as the days and times they are carried out here: Workshops.
A perfect day out for the whole family!
Cook With Gofio
The second one is workshop to learn how to Cook with gofio at the Molina José María Gil S.L. in San Bartolomé on Saturday, 1st of February, 2020 from 11h onwards.
You will be making gnocchi, sweet and savoury crêpes using gofio, guided by the very creative chef Miguel Ángel Garcés. I must admit that other than a “pella de gofio” used in stews or “gofio mousse”, I haven’t t tried this staple of the Canarian diet in any other shape or form so this one is particularly appealing to me.
Then you will taste your creations paired with a good Lanzarote wine. You will get the recipes printed to take away with you and the organiser’s have told us that it’s not a problem for them to deliver the worship in English.
The cost is €20 per person. To reserve, please send a WhatsApp to +34 645 894 895.
The foodies out there can’t miss out on this one!
Canarian Bowls And Tapas
Last but not least, enjoy a Night of Canarian Bowls & Tapas at the Sociedad in Muñique on the Thursday, 5th of February, 2020 at 18:30 until 21h.
The Sociedad is under new management and together with HEARTS Lanzarote are presenting a special way to experience a true Lanzarote tradition: Canarian Bowls.
You will be learning to how play with a local coach (translation will be available on the day). After you have worked an appetite, you will be relishing two half portions of local cuisine and a glass of wine or refreshment to wash it down.
The price is €25 per person and spaces are limited. To reserve, please send a WhatsApp to +34 648 864 653 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
