Finca Arrieta

Ten Years Of Finca De Arrieta

Many years ago, we visited the plot of land that is now Finca de Arrieta, with founders Michelle and Tila Braddock. And back in 2017, they kindly invited us to join their team at the unveiling of a sculpture to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first guests staying at the finca.

These days, Finca de Arrieta is an internationally known holiday property where guests stay in super luxurious yurts, cottages and a farmhouse, all within earshot of the ocean in the beautiful north of Lanzarote. And it’s without question the island’s “Greenest” holiday complex, being totally off the grid. They generate their own electricity using windmills and solar panels, and they’ve just started producing their own water, following a huge investment in their own desalination plant. Combined with the hybrid and electric vehicles available for guests to use, they can lay claim to leading the way towards a more eco-friendly Lanzarote.

The Finca is the jewel in the crown of their business, Lanzarote Retreats, which offers many properties for holiday letting all over the island, and each has luxury touches you don’t find too often here.

Tila Riding

The new sculpture was commissioned on Michelle and Tila’s travels to Bali, where they found a wheelchair bound artist who specialises in making large sculptures using tree roots as the outer skin. The Centaur has been christened “Eco Guardian,” and a plaque commemorates the unveiling yesterday.

Finca Arrieta Team

Afterwards we were able to meet the large team that keeps the finca and their other properties in tip-top condition, and it was nice to see some of the staff being rewarded for their long service – in one case 14 years. We then joined them all for a Christmas meal of local tapas and wines at Casa de la Playa and finally we moved on to Mojitos at the beach bar at Playa la Garita. It was a wonderful evening.

Finca de Arrieta is a truly beautiful place – wonderful for couples and families – and when you enter the gates, you immediately feel a sense of calm and tranquility. There aren’t many better places in the world to chill and relax, and best of all, it’s located in the most amazing part of the island.
