Lidl opened their second supermarket in Lanzarote on Thursday 4th June 2015.
To celebrate the special occasion, the supermarket discounted all of their fruit by 30% during the first week, followed by vegetables during the second week. The supermarket is situated on Avenida Juan Carlos in Puerto del Carmen, which is the main road connecting the holiday resort to the town of Tías. Lidl invested 6 million euros in the supermarket which has a retail space of 1,300 m2 and 100 car parking spaces. The supermarket chain have a brand “Compro Canario” which identifies which of their products are supporting the local economy by sourcing them in the Canary Islands, this accounts for 60% of their fruit & vegetables and all chicken meat.
The Puerto del Carmen store has a staff of 30 employees, and a total of 80 people working for them in Lanzarote.
Lidl Puerto del Carmen is open from 08:30 to 22:00 Monday to Sunday.
There is another Lidl in Arrecife, close to Ikea.
