Walk la graciosa

Lanzarote Walk – Pedro Barba, La Graciosa

Normally when we go walking in La Graciosa, we head South out of the village and around to Playa La Francesa, as do many other visitors. If you’re looking for something a bit more secluded, we’d recommend walking North along the coast to Pedro Barba.

We actually walked this in reverse, as we were dropped off by the Lineas Romero boat in the harbour of Pedro Barba on the Marine Excursion to Alegranza organised by Eco-Insider. In one direction it’s a clearly marked coastal path, the length is 5km. If you haven’t got a head for heights you may not like the drop offs on this route, so you could walk along the dirt roads shown on the map above, which is the 12,6km circular route recommended from Caleta del Sebo.

We spent a lovely hour or so in Pedro Barba, there is a gorgeous beach and harbour area, which is fabulous for snorkelling.

There isn’t anyone living in this village, the houses are used for holiday homes.

We had a wander around, and a quick dip, before setting off for Caleta del Sebo.

The start of the footpath was easy to spot, it’s marked out by stones and there’s marker stumps every few metres.

This is a great route for birders, we spotted lots of perches, nesting sites and waders along the way.

This circular stone design was fascinating, apparently created as a result of the oil drilling off the coast of Morocco. There’s a place along the footpath, where this type of rock washes onto the shore in La Graciosa, and someone has created this feature from the round stones.

We arrived at the village of Caleta de Sebo ready to catch the ferry back to Lanzarote after a bite to eat.

We can highly recommend the fresh fish platter at the bar restaurant Mesón de la Tierra on the frontline of the harbour area.
