Haria sociedad

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Bar La Tegala

We’re lucky to have a great sociedad close by, the Centro Socio La Tegala is situated in the main plaza of Haría and the cultural centre for the pueblo. It’s probably our favourite Haria restaurant.

Recently we set out one evening to eat at another one of our local restaurants, unfortunately the Puerta Verde was closed. We wandered around the corner into the plaza to the sociedad, the four of us really fancied eating fresh fish so ordered pescado frito with a portion of gambas al ajillo and croquetas de pescado to share as a starter.

We had only just walked from the bar through to the dining room when the first dishes arrived, piping hot, large portions and served with a smile. I’ve never seen so many garlic prawns piled into one of the terracotta tapas dishes before and they were delicious. The fish croquets weren’t at all greasy, the outside was crisp and the inside a smooth mixture of potato and fish served with a small salad and papas arrugadas.

We were all served three fish each which had simply been cleaned and deep fried, they were fresh and very tasty, our conversation stilted as we all tucked in.

We finished the meal off with a round of coffees and liqueurs.  Price wise we thought it was great value, we’d each had a couple of glasses of wine as well as the food, coffees and brandy the bill was less than €25 per person including a tip and a good evening had been had by all.

The dining area of Bar La Tegala has some really interesting old black and white photos from Lanzarote hung on the walls, have a wander in next time you’re in Haría and have a drink or some tapas.

Sociedades in Lanzarote vary greatly – some are little more than bars with cafés, and others like Tegala, are fully fledged restaurants. Bar la Tegala is an excellent Haria restaurant and one you should visit when you have a chance.
