Sorrento di Italia

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Sorrento di Italia Restaurant in Puerto del Carmen

This restaurant is  located near San Antonio Hotel, before you reach the Spar supermarket and overlooking the sea.

We decided to play it safe so we had booked a table for 3 for 7 pm. The place was not full yet, but it was much busier by the time we left.

Although it’s English owned, and the name of the restaurant is Italian, the menu, the wine list and the staff have a strong Spanish influence. Having said that, my companions for the night were Italian and the staff tried successfully some Italian words with them. They were very helpful when it came to decide what to order both for food and drink.  Which means that instead of the red wine we originally were considering, we ended up trying and enjoying a very nice red Protos Roble from Ribera del Duero.

We had a selection of cold meats and cheese for 2 and a starter of “Jamón ibérico de bellota”, which is the ham that comes from acorn-fed pigs. Delicious.

As a main course, two of us had “Solomillo” (fillet steak) with different sauces. The meat was cooked to each guests requirements and the third of us had “Paletilla de cordero” (shoulder of lamb) which was so tender that came off the bone by itself! All three dishes were accompanied by a bit of mash with some vegetables. The presentation was impeccable, gourmet style in look but not in size, the portions being quite generous.

For dessert we had a platter with a selection of 5 desserts, including tiramisu of course,  which comes with a glass of cava. When we told them we were all going to share it, they served a glass of cava each! Not only that, but when we ordered the bill, they brought an extra glass of cava for every one of us.

The bill came to just over €35.00 per person, which considering the quality and the amount of food we had, coupled with the friendly and professional service we got, I can honestly say it was my first time eating there but it won’t be the last!
