Montmartre Restaurante is a Parisian Bistro situated in the Calle Jameos in Puerto del Carmen, just next to the Biosfera Shopping Centre.
Although booking is advisable, they were able to accommodate us at quite short notice . Their menu is available in the big board outside the restaurant and in German, English and Spanish languages.
Inside, the place is relatively small, although the courtyard-style second floor dining room gave the impression of space and ads to the quaintness of the restaurant.
The striped table cloths, prints, photographs on the walls, menus on a painter’s palette and the music, subtle but present, all contribute to the French atmosphere.
The staff are friendly, prompt and multilingual. And although they couldn’t cater for my friend’s request to serve mashed potatoes with the Entrecôt Steak, they explained how the dishes’ Dauphinoise potatoes were cooked & presented, which were very tasty.
Also when I ordered two starters, Seafood Pancake with Mornay sauce as a starter and Duck Pâté with as main course, they kindly suggested I reversed their order as the pâté is cold and the pancake is warm and they would be best eaten in that order. And they were. Plus the size of the pancake starter was worthy of a main course, anyway.
For two starters, a main course and a bottle of a more than decent red house wine, we paid around €36. Plus the lady leaves with a rose at the end of the night. Corny some might say, it did put a smile in my face, though.
So as the line goes in the famous black and white classic “We’ll always have Paris… or in this case, “we’ll always have Montmartre”!
