We were in Puerto del Carmen to enjoy the Fiesta del Carmen maritime procession, and had noticed the Legacy of India restaurant on our walk down the strip to the harbour.
On the walk back to our car, we decided to have an impromptu meal out, and ordered their daily special menu priced at €8.95.
We’d been out in the sun for hours, so it was important for us to rehydrate, and they have Cobra on draft here!
Our popadums were lovely and fresh, we particularly liked their chopped onion pickle bowl which was quite spicy. We split our starters of onion bahja and chicken pakora, they were served with 4 portions of each.
Both of our main dishes were chicken, I went for the tikka masala, and Mike went for the madras, which we were warned was hot. There was also a vegetarian curry available. The meal included rice, we also ordered a peshwari naan to share.
The food was nicely presented and the tables are reasonably spaced out and laid with cloths, flower arrangements & wine. Unusually the front of house was run by a lady, who was friendly and happy to answer our questions. The Legacy of India has been open approximately 5 months, although it was the first time we’ve noticed the restaurant along the strip opposite Playa Grande.
We thought the food was of good quality, and great value. For us it was good to try somewhere different, we reflected on the early days of living here when there was only one curry place on the island, we have fond memories of Steve’s Balti House in Matagorda.
The Legacy of India is an authentic Indian Tandoori restaurant in Puerto del Carmen, they also offer free delivery if you are looking for a take out service in the resort.
