Casa Tomas view

Lanzarote Restaurant Review – Casa Tomas, Costa Teguise

Restaurante Las Caletas Casa Tomas is definitely off the beaten track, it’s a wonderful traditional Spanish restaurant right on the waterfront and within easy reach of Costa Teguise.

Situated in the streets at Las Caletas, which is the tiny village between the desalination plant and holiday resort, Casa Tomas is a family run Canarian restaurant specialising in fresh fish, seafood and paella.

Walking past the bar where several patrons were enjoying tapas we entered the large dining room at the back of the restaurant which offers a panoramic sea view facing towards Costa Teguise. The outdoor terrace is a charming small space with a few tables virtually in the sea, this was a popular place to sit and worth reserving or arriving early to bag a table.

We looked at the menu, but on this occasion we decided to try a selection of tapas and ordered boquerones, puntillas, salpicón de marisco, estofado & papas arrugadas. Freshly warmed bread and mojo sauces were brought to the table to nibble on whilst the tapas was prepared.

The interior of the restaurant is furnished in a typical Canarian style, it was comfortable and clean. The wow factor of Casa Tomas is the location and their food, they have earned some fabulous reviews. There was a real buzz to the place, with a friendly crowd on the tables around the street entrance enjoying drinks and the terrace tables turned around, as soon as they were vacated.

We’ll definitely be back for more, the tapas tasted great and was excellent value for money, with most dishes being available either as a tapa or a ración.

You can easily walk to this restaurant from the resort, simply walk around the King’s House at the end of the promenade and follow the road along past the beautiful Playa El Ancla, bearing first left before you reach the mini roundabout on the coast road to Arrecife.
