Artist Returns House To Original State

The French artist we reported on last week, who had painted a mural on the wall of a ruined house on the island, has now returned the wall to it’s original state, removing the image.

New Arrecife Tourist Guide

Arrecife Ayuntamiento announced the launch of a new tourist guide to the island’s capital, at the FITUR travel show in Madrid last week. The guide, called Arrecife on Tour is available one the web online or via an app.

Fight On Ryanair Flight Forces Diversion

A fight broke out on a Ryanair flight from London Luton to Lanzarote earlier this month, forcing the aircraft to divert to Faro, when the aircraft was met by police. The fight ended up with a member of the cabin crew being knocked to the ground, at which point the captain made the diversion. Eight intoxicated passengers were take off the flight by Police in Portugal.

500,000 Cruise Passengers In 2023

A total of 505,000 passengers arrived on the island in cruise ships in 2023, an increase of 48% on the the previous year.

Real Madrid Player Enjoys Holiday In Lanzarote

Real Madrid star Eder Militao enjoyed a break at Hotel Fariones in Lanzarote with his family.

Renovation Work On Monumento Campesino

Renovation work will be carried out on the monument, created by Cesar Manrique, in the centre of the island. The €78.000 contract includes repair work and repainting.

Webcams For Puerto del Carmen

Five webcams with a constantly running live feed will be placed on the beaches of Puerto del Carmen in the next few weeks, with the aim of providing accurate, live, day to day images to promote the resort.

New Museum In Texas Will Feature Lanzarote

A museum being constructed in the town of San Antonio in Texas, at a cost of $550 million, will have a section dedicated to the founders of the city, which included 16 families from Lanzarote. The Director of the project, Kate Rogers, visited the island this week and met with the Mayor of Teguise.

Masks No Longer Required In Health Centres

The requirement to wear face masks in health centres, which was introduced a few weeks ago, ends this Friday, due to the falling incidence of influenza on the islands. People with any kind of respiratory illness are still recommended to use them when visiting the Doctors or hospitals.

Record Income For Hotels and Apartment Complexes

Hotels and apartment complexes turned over €872 million in 2023, a record, and far in excess the previous year’s figure of €725 million. Yaiza, with it’s high end hotels in Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero, took the most, at €343 million.

First Binter Flights To Madrid This Week

Binter Canarias will begin flights to Madrid this week. There will be 16 flights a day from Tenerife North and Las Palmas and clients will be able to take advantage of free flights from Lanzarote to either of those airports when booking a flight to Madrid.
