Road Closures In Tias This Saturday

Several roads will be closed in Tias at various times on Saturday, because of the Rallye Orvecame Isla de Lanzarote. Diversions will be in place for the event.

Property Prices In Canary Islands – Second Highest Growth

The average value of property in The Canaries grew by 8.2% in the third quarter, behind only The Balearic Islands. The average increase across Spain was 4.2%.

Record High Paying Social Security On Lanzarote

An all time record 72,190 people were making social security contributions on the island at the end of October, reflecting the island’s highest ever employment figures.

Irish Visitors Have Clear Lead Over Germans

A total of 276,414 Irish visitors arrived in Lanzarote in the year to the end of October, comfortably surpassing the 200,946 visitors from Germany, historically the second highest foreign visitor country. The British, at 1.3 Million, are the most populous.

Saborea Lanzarote Expects 30,000 Visitors

The food festival takes place in Teguise this weekend, and the organisers are expecting more than 30,000 people to attend, surpassing the 25,000 last time it was in Teguise, in 2019.

15 Cruise Ships Expected Into Arrecife This Week

15 ships will dock in Arrecife this week, carrying a total of 52,000 passengers. Most notable is MSC Seaview, visiting for the first time and carrying 6,200 people.

Portable Desalination Plants Fully Operational

The two portable desalination plants finally reached their maximum capacity this week, producing around 5,000 M2 of water per week, which should prevent the water shortages being suffered for months following the failure of one part of Lanzarote’s network.

Arrecife Christmas Light On This Saturday

The capital’s Christmas lights will be switched on this Saturday at 18.30. The starting point will be at the Puente de las bolas at the end of Calle Leon y Castillo.

Arrecife Beach Closed

Arrecife’s main beach, Playa del Reducto, was closed on Wednesday afternoon after a bacteria was detected in routine water tests. The water will be tested daily, and the results analysed and as soon as it is clear, the beach will be re-opened.

Arrests For Fake Products

Police raided a commercial premises in Tias, and arrested 5 individuals, charging them with counterfeiting. Good with a value of around €6 million were seized.

Government Looking To Replace Horse Sculptures

The Cabildo is drawing up plans to replace the horse sculptures which were located in Arrecife, next to the Castillo San José.
