Saborea Food Festival Will Be Back This November

President of The Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, announced at a meeting at Monumento Campesino that the food festival at Teguise will take place again this year in the “final days of November.” We’ll post the exact dates as soon as we have them.

American TV Who Filming In Costa Teguise

The American TV series “Accommodation under the sun,” has been filming in Costa Teguise this week. Then programme format is that three contestants have to find and present properties, which are then voted on by the others to establish the best.

Red Flags On Costa Teguise Beaches

Red flags were raised on Playa Las Cucharas and Playa Bastian for most of Thursday, as strong winds and unusual tides lead to their closure for safety reasons. Playa Jabillo remained open with a yellow flag.

Woman Dies On Risco De Famara

A 30 year old lady has died after falling from Risco de Famara. Emergency services called to the scene were only able to confirm her death. It is believed she is from the municipality of Haria.

Thousands Attend Noche Blanca

Noche Blanca, in Teguise last weekend, was attended by several thousand, many dressed in white, for a memorable night of live music, show cooking, a fashion show and much more.

Hotel Employee Arrested For Theft From Rooms

An employee of a hotel in Costa Teguise has been arrested and charged with stealing almost €3000 from a number of rooms in the establishment. He stole a master keycard from the manager’s office and used it to enter rooms when the occupants were out. Police used CCTV from the hotel and the keycard logs to identify the 22 year old man.

Plus Fariones Suites Opens

Plus Farionies Suites opened on Sunday, with the first guests being greeted at the doors. The hotel and pools are fully operational, although there is still some work to do on the promenades.

Air Traffic Controllers To Continue Strikes

Air traffic control workers in Lanzarote are to continue their strikes through the summer months after reaching an impasse in negotiations for their 30% salary increase. As the workers are required to maintain a minimum service, the effects are expected to be for some delays to flights rather than cancellations.

Water Issues In The North

Much of the north of Lanzarote was without mains water for a day and a half this week after a pipe breakage. Supplies were restored on Thursday.

Tourists Filmed Climbing Volcano In Timanfaya

Two tourists were filmed climbing a volcano in the protected national park of Timanfaya, having left their car at the side of the road. A government spokesperson reiterated that “it is not allowed to leave the path, since this entire area is declared a Reserve area because of its fragility and ecological importance.”
