Airport Strike Postponed
The strike planned for 15th September by AENA workers has been postponed and a further meeting will take place on 12th September. Union chiefs are optimistic that an agreement will be reached and the remaining strike days planned will be called off.
Stratvs Hotel Controversy
The Stratvs Hotel in Yaiza, where refurbishment work was started in 2015, has been denounced by the Patrimonio department for transgressions against the building code for patrimonio (like listed) buildings. They say that a “large hole” was made in the front of the building and then replaced with stones and cement, doors have been altered and the stable area completely changed causing “irreversible damage” to the value of the protected property. The hotel was formerly called Hotel Finca Las Salinas.
CACT Strike Over
CACT workers have suspended their strike action after 19 days and returned to work on 4th September. The strike action affected around 12,000 visitors per day at the attractions, and has cost about €2 million in lost revenue for the island.
Easyjet Aircraft With Technical Problem Blocks Runway
An Easyjet Airbus blocked the runway after landing due to a technical problem, and cause an incoming aircraft from Malaga to divert to Fuerteventura while it waited to be towed off Lanzarote’s runway.
