Increase In New Companies On The Island
To go along with a decrease in unemployment, Lanzarote saw an additional 202 companies registered in the last quarter of 2017, bringing the total on the island 4974. Construction companies showed the largest increase, followed by industrial and the service sector.
Disabled Divers Enjoy Lanzarote
A group of 60 disabled people from the islands enjoyed scuba diving at Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen last week. The initiative was organised by Frater Canarias, with help from Ayuntamiento de Tias, CAS Lanzarote, Emerlan and The Cabildo. The deputy mayor of Tias attended as a diver and commented how proud he was to have helped disabled people from the islands see the beauty of the oceans.
Lanzarote Sailing Paradise Places 3rd In Copa del Rey
Local boat Lanzarote Sailing Paradise came third in their class in the prestigious annual sailing race which attracted 138 vessels, with 1900m crew from 24 countries. The event took place in the bay of Palma with 107 separate races in tough conditions.
The LZ404 from Mala towards Teguise has been resurfaced, fitted with new barriers and had new lane marking applied, making what was one of Lanzarote’s roughest roads a real pleasure to drive. The €740,000 cost was born by the roads corporation, with some support from the fuel tax fund.
4 Arrested For Holiday Rental Scam
Four individuals were arrested in Madrid last week in connection with holiday villa letting scams in Lanzarote. Two are Spanish nationals and two are foreign. They are accused with fraud and falsifying documents, specifically with 15 scams reported to police, where they took deposits for holiday lets on properties they did not own.
