Getting Married In Lanzarote

Currently, a “legal” wedding is not possible in Lanzarote, unless you are resident on the island. But that doesn’t stop hundreds of couples getting married with a wedding celebration, and many more from having vow renewal ceremonies.

Most couples choosing to get married here, will go through a small, legal ceremony in the their home country, and then enjoy the real celebration on the island.

Lanzarote is the perfect place for a celebration, because the weather is pretty much guaranteed, and the photos will be memorable, and as someone once said to us, “What could be better than celebrating our wedding, with all our friends and family and enjoying an epic holiday together as well?”

Generally, ceremonies are held in the island’s hotels – beach side, pool side or on a tranquil patio. But some happen in private villas, iconic venues like Jameos del Agua and even at Marina Rubicon.

The ceremony will be written to suit the couple getting married, or renewing their vows and will usually be followed by a fabulous meal at the venue with speeches and all the works.

Our own Mike is a wedding celebrant on the island, and he has officiated at more than 100 ceremonies over the last few years.
