The Festival of Visual Music of Lanzarote will celebrate its 14th edition this year, after a fifteen year break and it will take place between the 3rd and the 21st of October.

It fuses avant-garde contemporary music with the unique volcanic landscapes of the island.

The last Festival took place in 2002 and after this prolongued break the Cabildo has decided it was time to recover the spirit of the festival.

Created, thought and directed by painter and musician Ildefonso Aguilar -who received the Gold Medal of the Canarian Arts and is an Adoptive son of Lanzarote- in its previous thirteen editions has seen perform in Lanzarote musicians such as Brian Eno, Michael Brook, Win Mertens, Jon Hassell, Tony Riley, Russell Mills, Alberto Iglesias, Suso Saiz, Jan Garbarek, Harold Budd, Rokia Traoré and many many more.

The programme in this comeback edition includes the following concerts:
7 October at 21:00 at Jameos del Agua: Tord Gustavsen
11 October at 21:00 at Jameos del Agua: Anja Lechner and François Couturier
12 October at 20:00 at the Convento de Santo Domingo: The Camerata Lacunensis with the String Orchestra of the Music Convervatory of the Canaries
14 October at 21:00 at Jameos del Agua: Nils Peter Molvaer Group
20 October at at 21:00 at Cueva de los Verdes: Landscape Project and
21 October at 21:00 at Jameos del Agua: Jóhann Jóhannsson

The Festival also has an extensive programme of parallel activities held at CIC El Almacén including the projection of:
4 & 12 October at 21h: The Lost Paradise by Günter Atteln
5 & 11 October at 21h: Sound and silence, travel with Manfred Eicher by Peter Guyer and Norbert Wiedmer
As well as contemporary dance with:
17 October at 20:30h: Agua by Chey Jurado
19 October at 20:30h: En Blanco by Carmen Werner

There will also be several children’s workshops, a gathering of Canarian Contemporary Musicians and an exhibition about the history of the festival all of them at CIC El Almacén.
