At last the island has somewhere for ballroom dancers to enjoy fabulous live music and dance the afternoon or evening away! The Lanzarote Dance Band is now performing Monday afternoon tea dances at the fabulous Amura in Puerto Calero.
The events are for everyone who loves to dance (or just listen) to music played by fantastic musicians and vocalists in the ballroom, Latin, rhythm, swing and jive style.
They welcome professional dancers, experienced ones or absolute beginners, where you can be paired up with someone to give you help and advice.
The location is amazing – the top floor of Amura, where there is a full dance floor. Food and drinks are served, and you can step out onto the colonial style balcony to enjoy the breeze between numbers.
The Lanzarote Dance Band is lead by Pete Worthy, who also sings, and is accompanied on vocals by Gerry B. For their musical style, think Joe Loss, Lew Stone and Ray Ellington. The singers are accompanied by keyboards, accordion, guitars, brass and percussion.
As well as the regular Monday afternoon tea dances, there will be monthly Gala Dinner Dances, and the band are setting up a “club” for regular dancers, which will entitle them to discounts.
We’ll keep you posted on dates and anything new the band are planning.
You can find out much more and book your next dance via their website: Lanzarote Dance Band.
They also have Facebook Page.
With the success of Strictly Come Dancing in the UK, readers have been asking us for years where they can enjoy ballroom dancing in Lanzarote, so we’re sure this will be a roaring success for the island.
