It’s that time of the year that where people busy themselves with Christmas preparations, without forgetting those less fortunate than us.
The Christmas Shoe Box Appeal in aid of the local charity Calor y Café specially focuses making sure that Santa doesn’t forget the under-priviledged children of Lanzarote.
If you want to help, simply fill a shoe box with several inexpensive individually wrapped toys and label it with the sex and age of the child the box is for.
Last year the average cost of each box was estimated to be about €25 but remember, this is only as a guideline. As the charts below, these are suggestions of items to include in the boxes, both for boys and girls in ages ranging 2 to 4, 5 to 9 and 10 to 14 years old.
If you are thinking of including sweets, avoid nuts and remember, if the toy needs batteries they probably won’t be able to afford to buy replacements.
Boxes will be collected at Deiland Shopping Centre in Playa Honda on 22nd of December between 12 and 4pm on the top floor by the lift.
If you would like more information or you can’t bring your box to the pick up point mentioned above, please get in touch via Facebook with any of the following three ladies organising this year’s appeal:
