Canarian Bowls at Teleclub Mácher

We joined a group of residents recently to play Bola Canaria  -Canarian Bowls at the sociedad in Mácher, by the holiday resort of Puerto del Carmen.

The group meet weekly each Friday, the teams are drawn at 13:00 and anyone is welcome to join.

The Canarian bowls is free, as long as it is supported by food and drink purchases. For those taking advantage of the Menu del Día or great tapas menu there, they tend to arrive about an hour before to eat. Others just turn up and order drinks, whilst they are playing.

The teams are decided by picking a token out of a bag, which denotes if you are red or green, then the order of play is decided, with the less experienced going early in the rota, and the skilled playing last. It was a large group on the day we attended, the teams had 12 players in each, so it took some time between bowling. Other times there are 6-8 players in each team, which requires more skill! There’s lots of friendly banter and the event provides a good networking opportunity to make new friends.
