The 30th of May is a very special day in the Canary Islands as it marks the anniversary of the autonomous Canary Islands Parliament’s first session, which was held on 30th May 1983. It’s a fiesta day where lots of traditional events will be held celebrating our local culture and traditions. A chance to see the local costumes, music, dancing and gastronomy.

The Monumento al Campesino in the centre of the island, at San Bartolomé will be serving a special menu with local produce, priced at €26 excluding drinks from 13:00 to 16:30. You can book your table online here, with options for 12:00, 13:00 & 14:00.

Toñin Corujo one of the most famous “timplista” will be performing live with his Father, Antonio Corujo who is a popular poet. Toñin and Almudena Hernández (singer) will sings favourite Canarian songs mixed in with some poems from his father.

Visitors to the Monumento al Campesino on the 30th May can join in some workshops as well as enjoy exploring this free attraction in Lanzarote.

Ceramic workshop: A workshop for all ages to learn and have fun. An artisan potter will teach you how to make traditional pottery.

Workshop of mojo and gofio: A fun activity where they will teach you how to prepare a mojo sauce and gofio treats.
